Foster studied environmental science with a concentration in agriculture at the University of Maryland College Park where he was a founding member of the UMD Rooftop Community Garden. He has worked as a lead mentor for the Ag Discovery, a college course for high school students interested in careers in agriculture and has participated in a variety of urban farming and food justice initiatives including the Neighborhood Farm Initiative, the Maryland Food Cooperative, and the DC Master Gardener Program.

Foster has worked as the production manager at Nature by Design, a native plant nursery in Alexandria,VA since 2013, and is excited to be joining Owl's Nest Farm for the 2017 season.

Foster's enduring favorite vegetable is the eggplant, with its stunning variations in size, flavor, shape, and color.
