Owl's Nest Farm grows unique, delicious, nutritious, diverse vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit on five acres just outside DC in Upper Marlboro, MD. We use organic practices to grow real food for our CSA members, farmer’s market customers, restaurants, and friends.

Liz
Liz has worked on diversified vegetable farms since 2009, and she founded Owl’s Nest in 2016. She loves working hard, growing healthy food and building strong relationships. She lives on the farm with her toddler, Wren. Liz uses she/her pronouns and she is really into kale.
Rue
Rue (they/them) has been farming with Owls Nest since 2018, where they love to dig up intertwined carrots, get far muddier than necessary, and dream about the world building that starts on the land. They get especially excited about team potluck, well working machines, and farm based art like garlic braids and flowers as natural dye. Rue is the field/crop production manager at the farm, and a worker owner as of 2024.
Howl
Howl (they/them) has been farming at Owl's Nest since 2019 and became a worker owner in 2025. They love teamwork, tractors, and all of the bugs they get to meet. Off the farm you can probably find them reading, exploring the woods, or working on an art project.
Erin
Erin (she/her) has been farming with Owl’s Nest since 2023 and became a worker-owner in 2025! Erin is the wash/pack lead on the harvest team—making sure our community gets safe and long-lasting veggies. She’s a silly goose and cares a lot—catch her at the Petworth market and Brookland CSA pickups.
Emma
Emma (she/her) has been farming at Owl’s Nest since 2024. Some of Emma’s favorite farm things include: organizing stuff, big crew teamwork energy, elaborate themed potlucks, farm-related arts & crafts, loooong chats in the field, the smell of tomato plants, and having no qualms about spilling food on her work clothes.
Kate
Kate (she/they) is an ace on our harvest team and has a knack for making beautiful flower arrangements. Kate led Rooting DC for many years and led several small farms in Washington, DC. Kate lives in Hyattsville, MD, is a Leo, laughs loudly, has cats, and loves dogs and shenanigans.
Kesenia
Kesenia (she/her), a cyberpunk sorceress and one of the newest full time members at the Owl's Nest, contributes to both the Field and Harvest teams, and is quickly becoming the on-site vehicle repair girl the farm has always wanted! She loves systems, and has started to influence some labor processes at the farm to increase ease and productivity. In her personal time, she's a traditional artist, 3D designer and printer, a writer, and a dog mom to Arcana, a 2 year old Pomeranian.
