Values Statement

Strong relationships

We’re connected to every other living thing, and so we center strong, healthy relationships: with the land, with each other, with our community.

Resilience

In the face of climate change, we strive to make our farm more resilient by

  • using practices that contribute to greater biodiversity,
  • using resources wisely and minimizing waste,
  • carefully, compassionately observing our land,
  • learning from other farmers who are trying new things and repurposing old concepts.

Economic alternatives

We recognize that business as usual has caused devastating harm to the earth and to people, and so we strive to embody alternatives.

  • We believe in sharing power and resources. We run our farm operation collaboratively and we operate with financial transparency.
  • We strive to holistically support each other and to share the abundance we create together equitably.
  • We participate in wild, wonderful economic experiments, including but not limited to bartering and holding cooperative relationships with other local growers rather than competitive ones.

Justice

Owl’s Nest is part of a growing movement for a more just food system. We believe everyone has a right to healthy, nutritious food. We use our privileges to support those from groups that have often been left out.
